Writing

Taos Writing House

at the famed Mabel Dodge Luhan House with Laura Fraser

April 17-22, 2017

The Taos writing retreat will be an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in your writing and be inspired by the landscape and serenity of the lodgings. Whatever your level of experience, this mentored retreat will give you the gift of uninterrupted time and reflection to make real progress on your writing. Throughout the week, you will get expert individual feedback from Laura, who will bring along her sense of humor and compassion.

We will start the week by establishing individual writing goals –whether it is to write a personal essay, a chapter of a memoir, structure a nonfiction book, or simply give yourself the opportunity to write freely and see what comes of it. Once you have established your goal, Laura will support you with group or individual exercises and feedback. Every morning will start with a check-in, a warm-up exercise, and a short lecture on craft. Then you will be free to spend the rest of your time writing, roaming, and breathing in the scented desert art. Laura will be available in the afternoons for individual consultations –to read your work and offer constructive edits and direction for your writing. The focus of the workshop is on nonfiction writing – personal essay, memoir, creative nonfiction, journalism, narrative features --though writers from any genre are welcome.
